A rare glimpse into my private life : how my husband is reacting to my rapid growth in business
Jan 19, 2026I don’t often talk about my private life online.
If you follow me on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube - wherever - you may have noticed that I rarely share photos of my children (who are now young men), or of my husband. But I assure you: they exist. And we have a real life that we live here.
Something happened this evening, - a very ordinary Sunday evening - that felt important enough to share. Not because it was flashy, but because it clarified something that’s been sitting with me for a while.
And it all ties back to a question I received during the Golden Aura Challenge.
A Quiet Moment, A Big Realization
As I am sharing this, it is a freezing Sunday evening in South Dakota. The kind of cold that makes you want to stay in, cook something warm, and slow everything down.
My husband is still riding the high of Senegal winning the African Cup of Nations (yes - still celebrating 😄). We cooked dinner - he handled part of it, I handled part of it. We had egusi soup, a dish that’s become popular on TikTok but is deeply West African at its roots. In Nigeria it’s called egusi; in my country, we call it gbomanyanya.
After dinner, he went to the couch. I stayed at the table.
And because I was done eating, my mind did what it often does: it started exploring. Playing. Strategizing. Thinking about what’s next in my business.
At some point, he noticed I had gone quiet. Not just quiet - but focused.
He looked at me and said,
“Are you okay? You look very pensive.”
I laughed and said,
“I’m not pensive. I’m strategizing.”
He smiled and said,
“You use some impressive words these days.”
Then he paused - and said something that stopped me.
“You know… I really admire who you’ve become.”
Not the Money. The Character.
What struck me wasn’t just what he said - but what he didn’t say.
He didn’t say,
“I admire how much money you’re making.”
He didn’t say,
“I admire how fast your business is growing.”
Instead, he said:
“These days, when you say you’re going to do something, you do it.
You make tough decisions.
Even when I don’t agree with you, you follow through.
You take responsibility - no matter the outcome.”
He sees me every day. He sees the decisions I make - the ones that aren’t always comfortable. The ones that don’t always feel good. The ones that sometimes create friction between us because we don’t think the same way.
And what he was reflecting back to me wasn’t success.
It was character.
That moment brought me right back to a question someone asked me earlier this week:
“What’s the embodiment piece in all of this?”
At the time, I couldn’t grasp all of it . Something about the question felt off - but I couldn’t put my finger on why.
Until this conversation.
Why “Feeling It” Isn’t Enough
We talk a lot about embodiment in this space.
Feel the feelings of the person who makes $10K months.
Feel what it would be like to run a $50K or $100K business.
And listen - there’s nothing wrong with that. It can be beautiful. It can be inspiring.
But here’s the truth that doesn’t get talked about enough:
Embodiment is not the issue.
There are plenty of people who can feel the feelings. Who can visualize, journal, meditate, and emotionally connect to the version of themselves who has the life or business they want.
And yet… nothing changes.
Because embodiment doesn’t come from feeling like the person.
It comes from becoming the person.
And becoming the person means:
-
Making hard decisions
-
Taking responsibility
-
Following through
-
Acting even when it’s uncomfortable
-
Choosing movement over perfection
The fastest way to “embody” the next version of you is to take the actions that version of you would take.
The Question That Changed Everything
Over the past year, one question has guided me more than anything else:
“What would the million-dollar version of me do here?”
When things go wrong.
When plans fall apart.
When life throws grief, logistics, exhaustion, or uncertainty into the mix.
Last November, I had funerals, travel, and heavy life events happening all at once. And the question wasn’t:
“Do I pause my business?”
The question was:
“Can I grieve and lead?”
“Can I hold life and momentum?”
That version of me didn’t stop.
She adjusted.
She moved.
She decided.
Same thing with investing in support. With running ads. With choosing mentorship. With committing resources before it all made sense.
Not:
“When I get there, I’ll do that.”
But:
“I’ll do it now - and that’s what will get me there.”
What Embodiment Actually Is
Embodiment isn’t thinking the thoughts.
It’s not just feeling the feelings.
It’s:
-
Moving
-
Choosing
-
Deciding
-
Acting
Even when it doesn’t feel aligned yet.
Even when it feels edgy.
Even when it feels inconvenient.
One of the women in UNITY said something recently that landed so deeply for me. She said:
“The ultimate embodiment is living the reality you asked for.”
And she’s right.
There is no higher embodiment than actually being in the experience - and you don’t get there by waiting to feel ready.
You get there by becoming the person who does the thing.
This Is What UNITY Is About
UNITY isn’t about pretending.
It’s not about bypassing.
It’s not about staying in your head.
It’s about becoming.
Whether you’re new in business, at $5K–$10K months, or ready to scale into $30K, $40K, and beyond - UNITY is the space where character, energetics, and practical action come together.
It’s soulful.
It’s strategic.
It’s real.
And it changes who you are - not just what you make.
At the time I’m writing this, UNITY is open for registration.
